Guitar

So far I have bought this camera: Sony DSC-T90 cybershot 12.1 Megapixels, 4x zoom $265

I am getting paid on Wednesday. I have decided that I want this guitar: Epiphone Hummingbird (based on the $2000+ Gibson Hummingbird). I think this will be around $350-$375 (black version)

I'm pretty excited.
I also need to buy a high-end hair straightener (too long have my summer days gone by with bad hair) and some running shoes :)

Dream :D

I was talking to Ruby (or Luby as my mom so eloquently calls her) yesterday about her working at my mom's company so I ended up dreaming about it. At first, we were at my mom's company except there were all these beds in the front office. My mom tells me it is because they moved locations. And then the boss comes downstairs and tells this one guy to use this huge drill to sharpen and shape lug nuts? We're afraid because it looks really sharp and basically hes just putting these bits of metal on top of a fastly whirling drill with his bare hands. After succeeding at that, the boss tells the guy to put nails in these tennis balls so that when you hit them, they can do prince of tennis tricks, like snake boomerang or the one where the ball disappears and reappears elsewhere. He does that successfully, too!

And then somehow that setting vanishes and we are at Disneyland and going on all these rides (this might be gordon's fault because he called me while he was at disneyland OR UCLA people's fault because they went to six flags). And we're running around getting on rides but apparently the pirates ride got turned into this tacky ride where you learn about bright blue whales that got their white baby whale stolen by the president. WTF?! and then somewhere along the way, because I'm assuming there are car-like seats on certain rides, the scene changed again where I picked up this guy that was uber wounded and being chased after by some bad men. Apparently its someone I knew and cared about because I went to great lengths to help him. First he wanted to watch opera or a play or something prestigious while eating salmon roe and caviar. But since he was wanted, we had to sneak around back stage and do alot of illegal stuff to obtain said desires. Of course, I don't think it was just for his frivolous whims. It was for some TOP-SECRET purpose.

And then I end up in shanghai driving down the street and there's this person WALKING in the driving lane and we honk at him. He turns around and gets all pissed and starts banging on our window and we realize that its Richard and he realizes its me in the car and then we just wave. And we find out he just finished clubbing LOL

And then I woke up. I am tireeeeed. TGIF!

Summer Things

So today I was running errands at UCLA and I stopped by the book store because I wanted to buy a book on C# since that is what I will be programming in at Microsoft. But along the way, I couldn't help but be distracted by other books, especially the table with the new and noteworthy paperbacks.

I ended up buying
  1. The perks of being a wallflower - $14.00
  2. Love in the time of cholera - $14.95
  3. Watchmen - $19.99
  4. C# 3.0 Unleashed - $49.99 (SO EXPENSIVE -_-)
And I remember I also have another book I bought during spring break that I haven't read yet! This summer, I will read lots and increase my literary knowledge :D And speaking of summer activities, I have a list of things I want to do!
  • Read random good books/more books by murakami
  • Catch up on good movies, especially all the ones lined up in my netflix queue
  • Invest in a guitar
  • Invest in a digital camera
  • Go to the gym and run/do sit-ups/utilize the spa
  • Become more self-sufficient in terms of cooking meat
  • Go hiking on washington mountains!
  • Study for GREs
  • Make sure my clubs don't become burning heaps of nothing while I'm gone

I will be very productive this summer! I will mail you all postcards and then you will feel obligated to talk to me online! and that way, we will stay in touch :) To finish the post, I just want to show the kettle I got from kenny. It's so cute! I had to fight Phillipp for it but I won!

Qualifications

HAHAHA So I am allergic to studying. To combat this sickness, I spent a while reading old entries of xanga.
And even though I always told myself that people are usually equally amazing, and there are no specific qualities other than decency and humor that I look for, apparently I do have a list!

I wonder loli

Lolita Fantasy

So I haven't really thought about Lolita in a long time but talking to Michelle recently during finals triggered my interest once more! So this summer, I'll probably be purchasing a few dresses with my fat paychecks in Washington :D

I'm going to post some of my dream dresses on here and then commence looking for them on LJ once I get paid. Apparently though, one of the AP dresses is actually offered on the Angelic Pretty English website... for $260. Man, so tempting. I will wait until I get paid...............

Dress #1
Baby the Star Shines Bright Marie Antoinette OP or JSK
I guess I'd really prefer the OP because it's so magnificent but the JSK is really pretty too (Especially in Blue or Pink x Black)
I'll probably most likely get the JSK because OPs are just... too fancy for me :'(

They are so beautiful!

Dress #2
Angelic Pretty Wonder Party JSK
The wonder party series is seriously coveted by every lolita in the world. I am no exception. But I think I'm kind of picky about which one I want. I only want the JSK (not OP ... although I guess I woudn't mind the OP either ^^;) Black, Blue, Pink... in that order (just because I have SO many pink dresses....)

Dress #3
Angelic Pretty Happy Ice Cream JSK
I think this is new. It is really really cute. Black or Pink!

Other things I'd really want (accessories, etc). I guess I'm not super picky about headdresses and what not because I already have a few. But my dream ones would still be:

Baby the Star Shines Bright Bunny Bear Bag
My dream, My Honey~ T_T so expensive and so beautiful

I guess overall, I would really want the marie antoinette. It is so beautiful :(

I'll make another post about what I already have once I track down the stock photos and I feel less sleepy and finals are over XD
Bye everyone

Sleeping in Class

So on Tuesday I sat in the second row of my algorithms class and both Yin and I fell asleep quite soundly. For the entire class. and Gene, who was sitting in the first row, basically saw the whole thing!

so then he sent me this picture ^^;; -> yay! Good intentions! (although I think when I sat down in the second row, my thought process was actually something like: "HM I don't care if the prof sees me, I am probably going to fall asleep anyway, I will not be too embarrassed...."

Though to redeem myself, I am usually and used to be the Mid-Center "bring it on" person! where I would also fall asleep xp

Epik High in the Sky

Since I blogged about the Pillows concert last year, its only appropriate that I also do it for Epik High!

The concert took place at the House of Blues on Sunset this past Saturday, which was an amazing day even w/o the concert.

Pre-Concert:

I got up at 6 AM to prepare for Disneyland with Amigos de UCLA. I got the CSC van to pick up the sandwiches and food, drove to disneyland before the kids to buy the tickets, played in the park from 10 - 5:30 and then drove back like a maniac to avoid traffic.  I got back at 7 PM and didn't have time to park the van at UCLA so I hid it in my garage. I ate for 2 minutes and ran out to pick up Roman and Phillipp who I was giving rides to (the doors open at 8 PM so I was anxious that they would be anxious and want to get there on time). We got there on time, Roman's friend Risa was already in line, so we got in really fast :D

She wanted to get in the mosh pit and squish to the front but Phillipp and I were like ...ehhh we'll just hang out on the side on the stairs with our elevanted view. And then Roman joined us there, too. The only difference between the views was that we didn't get splashed by Tablo's water but that's okay... LOL Otherwise we could see him really clearly and Phillipp got really nice pictures of him :D

Actual Concert:

First, the Far East Movement performed. They had alot of energy and they also brought out WongFu as guests.

Far East Movement dressed as people from the future trying to revive Music

Then as Kero One came on, I had to run out for 20 min to repark my car and get another 2 hours of metered parking. I basically ran up and down Sunset looking for stores that could give me change and came back all nasty and sweaty. But when I came back, Kero One was still performing and he performed this song - Looking for Love in all the wrong places and it was really good! I think he was too mellow for the concert though. People weren't as pumped as they were for the Far East Movement. Also I think people were just really anxious to see Epik High.

Kero One and his female accompaniment?

Then Epik High's posse came out. The beatboxer guy (REALLY talented) and MYK performed first.

And then Tablo and Mithra and DJ Tukutz came out :D it was SO amazing. They performed songs like Love Love Love, Fly, One, 1 Minute 1 Second (from Lovescream) and a few songs from their new album Map the Soul. They ended with Fly and went away. and everyone started screaming for an encore and you hear this voice going, UH GUYS louder! LOUDER! so we screamed LOUDER and then they all came out again!!

Beatboxer guy, Tablo in the beanie, MYK, and mithra in the back

This time they were like, these songs are for you, our fans! and they performed all the popular songs that everyone liked and ended with Fan. It was soo amazing.

Tablo is incredible live. He is so animated and moves around so much. His facial expression changes every second and he is everywhere on the stage, interacting with the other rappers, interacting with the crowd, getting us pumped up. He would come over to our side and look straight into the crowd and it just felt like he was grinning JUST at you. MY HEART ::SWOONS:: He had this brown beanie on and really normal clothes but he looked so good!! DJ Tukutz looked HOT with his fedora(?) hat? :D and mithra...well he's mithra LOL.

more pictures

one of the last songs, with beatboxer, DJ Tukutz, Mithra, Tablo, and Kero One in the back in the purple

Compared to the Pillows concert last year, I think this was way more EPIK (pun totally intended). I think everyone was way excited to see them since we didn't know when we'll next see them in the US. There were way more fervent fans (Risa) who bought like $200 worth of merchandise. And the talent, I think you can feel the talent just vibrating off the stage. There were also a ton of korean people there dressed very attractively. I guess it was a really good place to pick up girls. ROFL

I really enjoyed the whole experience, even though I basically had to stand from 8 PM - 12 AM after a whole day of walking at Disneyland. And then afterwards I had to move the van from my garage back to UCLA at 1 AM. I was so sure I would be attacked by hobos! But as I was walking back to my apartment at 1ish, I just listened with new appreciation to Epik High songs. It was very mind-clearing :) Thanks Phillipp for taking such good pictures!! and letting me scream right behind you. I hope you aren't deaf yet!

Thanks guys for coming with me! and in the unlikely event that Roman is reading this, you owe me Money!!! =P

Everyone please go listen to 1 minute 1 second from Love Scream. It is so incredible <3

Scholastic Review

So I haven't been slacking THAT much this quarter. But somehow I feel like my grades so far are not very steady. I think maybe its because every week there's just shit to do so I haven't had a chance to ever catch up or focus very deeply? How the EFF did I get an 80 on my lab. WTF intro lab too. WTF

week 1: that engineering conference and interview totally threw me off track
week 2: got really sick, laid on bed dying
week 3: had to catch up due to sickness
week 4: stayed up really late programming Monday, made rest of the week gross
week 5: drinking and amigos ucla field trip and amigos meeting like..4 times that week

hmm I guess drinking doesn't really count ^^; since its ... a pasttime.

I don't think I'm going to the swe banquet. It's on the friday before our volunteer disneyland trip so there will be a meeting for that. Also the theme is prom -_- as much as I'd like to be scandalously clad for prom, I don't think I have time to go shopping and I don't think I'd want to go with a date (at the same time I sorta do) rofl. so that's a no.

I really hope I can perform better for the rest of the quarter. But somehow I feel so sleepy and distracted everyday that I duno if this will be possible. We'll see -___-;

This is sort of a random update since I haven't talked to y'all very much.
Ruby: I keep seeing these away messages that are not happy. Update me :(
Angela!! Congrats on graduating sooooon :) :) :)

I also had a dream about cali _ _ _ _ _ _  and that she wasn't really in germany but really in nevada or somewhere closeby and I was like @_@ AHHHHHHH. not that distance really made much of a difference. scoff. SCOFF.

I just finished a midterm so as you can see my mind is still all over the place.

Uncertainty

How can I be sure, how can I give you the benefit of the doubt when the past has proven me wrong? And not only proven me wrong, but thrown piles of shit at me when I am not even hungry for shit.

How can I be strong in my convictions when there's not even a glimmer of proof that they are right? =T

Christmas Pains

Love Actually. How many times have you all heard me advertise this movie? haha I LOVE this movie. And I LOVE christmas. A time for lovers, a time for friendship, a time of happiness and rejoicing, and definitely a time of miracles.

This year, its rather hard to get happy about my favorite holiday. I don't know what it is, but I feel quite lost. There's nothing to look forward to and nothing I especially want to strive for.

and most frightening of all, I think I am slowly falling out of love with love.

so out of all this, the only thing that remains is my love for shopping, especially of the internet variety. WHERE ARE MY CATS?

Indiscriminate Desire

I am reading Atlas Shrugged right now.

In the many months of his absence, she never wondered whether he was true to her or not; she knew he was. She knew, even though she was too young to know the reason, that indiscriminate desire and unselective indulgence were possible only to those who regarded sex and themselves as evil.

that passage stopped me in the middle of reading. any thoughts?

Life saved?

So recently for those of you who don't know, I got a 2-door scion tc (sports car). Usually the 2006 model, even used, costs about $14,000-$16,000. So we thought this was a really really good deal. the mileage was reasonable and it was only $8,000. It has this manly looking muffler and a spoiler, 2 sunroofs, Ipod auxiliary capability, and pimpin rims. So the reason why it was so cheap was because, first its a salvage car and second, we got it from the area near USC (poor ppl live there =pppp). So the salvage means its been in a big accident and the insurance company just sold it to the car dealership, who took it to a body shop, fixed it, and is selling it for a lower price. We looked up the car history separately and it matched what the dealership said-that it was damaged in the back (so everything in the front is like new, airbags etc). However to get it registered at the DMV, my dad had to get it checked and approved by the highway patrol. So when he took it in to a state-approved body shop for a checkup today, they told us that the break pads in the front wheels has only 10% left...which meant that at best, the breaks would last for 2 more weeks. (So we're thinking that the previous owner must've really driven this baby-probably a youngster, and that the dealer didn't really look at the front). My dad got them instantly replaced @_@ You can just imagine me careening into some poor person on the 710 freeway at 70 miles per hour at 8 am in the morning because I can't break. It's kinda scary. Even if I don't get injured...my poor car! and my insurance. The funny thing is that we had it checked by another body shop earlier and they passed everything. So I wonder what kind of ghetto mechanics they had who didn't even check my breaks >_> I guess the state-approved one did a more thorough job because they give out safety certificates? If I got into an accident after they approved the car, I could probably sue them.

Either way, I think we really prevented a big disaster from happening. Apparently everything else is fine though so hopefully I can drive it next week. *gets ready to start ordering Kuromi & My melody car accessories from ebay* KEKE

Fun-ness

Okay so Bodyline (this brand in Japan) is pretty cheap and they officially have an English site and offer shipping to America. So instead of the hassle of a group order, I just went ahead and ordered some stuff on my own (though it's probably like 5-10 dollars more in terms of shipping, which isn't that big a deal AND I got it in just 5 days :D)

So I'll post some pictures. They generally sell alot of lolita stuff but I also bought a miko costume. I'll keep the bottom and use the top as reference to make a slightly different version (to cosplay as hanyu from higurashi second season).  the lolita outfit reminds me of moyashimon. ^^; annie if you keep watching, you'll see what I mean.

miko costume. Have to make new top-sleeves have to be pink, also have to make horns (hanyu has horns XD)

lolita (alice-y jumpskirt with cards print & top hat) :D
good deal for $50 no? The metamorphose dress was 110 ^^; (though that included socks)
guess thats the difference between namebrand and lesser..brand? >_< I'll update more when i receive the meta pack <3

Bringing back the dead

okay so I had this really cool dream that was only a small part of my whole dream. But its only part I remember so I'll describe it.
It's in two parts- the first is in first person. Then I woke up because I needed to pee and when I went back to sleep, I had the same dream again in 3rd person. (kind of like Higurashi)

First part:
We're in a boat sailing for leisure. Don't ask me why but I think this part of the dream was only there because I watched a LOT of Phelpsy yesterday so he was in the boat with us too. There was bad weather and a small storm and we drifted to the middle of who knows where. There's ice and mountainous regions and little water ponds everywhere. So imagine that background though occasionally that setting is switched with my living room...don't ask me how.

What we see is this giant block of ice and inside is this yellow crystal or rock that is almost as large. It's shining and throbbing. My BROTHER reaches in and grabs a piece. He eats it and then he dies. We're like omg omg omg, what do we do? So Michael Phelps says: okay stay calm. I'm going to go find a shaman (probably by swimming there using butterfly =P) and find out how to bring him back. So in no time, the shaman is back and he brings about 10 bottles of water. I'm not sure where we're pouring the water into, so I'll just use my imagination and say we pour it into my brother's mouth. The shaman tells us that the water might bring him back to life. We have to overcome the crystal's pollution. So we pour and we pour. It feels somewhat like pouring water through a water filter. It goes through the filter but comes out again. Not terribly effective. And also, I forgot to mention this but my cousin is evil. For those of you who don't know what a shade is, look it up in some fantasy novel. But she was 50% shade. Now in the 3rd person version, I think she was responsible for killing my brother. And this shade-ness only appeared when we got to this weird land. She would hide upstairs all day (here's where my living room comes in) and come down at night and walk around the kitchen. We would all get nervous that she would eat the shaman and then where would we be?

With the water, it revives my brother a little. But you get the feeling that it doesn't last. He ate the crystal which means that he's trapped here. He can't leave. And somehow, blood is mentioned. We have to give him blood instead of water. I don't remember whose blood we use but I think we try to kill my cousin and use her blood (she's evil anyway, might as well sacrifice her). There's a lot of blood and black guts spilling around somewhere. And then in all this craziness, my mom sidles up to me and says hysterically, "I gave away my heart, my liver, AND my kidney! If I give away anymore, I'm going to die. You give away some!" I shrug and go, "okay, I don't really mind..." Yeah weird...so that's where I woke up and went to pee. (I don't know if my brother was ever revived)

part 2:
When I come back to sleep, the premise of the story changes a little. We're stranded because our ship (imagine Titanic) had sunk. My cousin had eaten the crystal and become this crazy evil person. And after much donation of some anonymous person's blood and guts into my brother's body, he finally revived (though he didn't eat the crystal). But through this, we learned how to animate dead objects. So my cousin wanted our blood and our bodies to be able to animate other objects, namely putting bones together and creating skeleton warriors/servants. People just keep dying until there's only me and my brother left. So out of necessity, I create this little girl in my head. But she materializes and becomes real (because we need her so bad for help). At the very end, there's this battle on ice. We're skating towards my cousin, the 3 of us, and shes moving towards us with at least 8 skeletons following her. My imaginary girl goes around and kills about 2 of them. My brother sees that its a losing battle so out of desperation, he eats a piece of the crystal too. It gives him powers and strength and he ends up defeating my cousin and all of the undead. But there's a catch. He starts going crazy and submerges in the water. He keeps repeating, "I can see the ship! everyone's alive! I can still save them!"

In the second version, we pan out of the scene and realize its a movie theatre. And outside of the theatre, we learn that apparently the purpose or the lesson of the movie is that if you break apart some sort of dried flower, people will want to couple. And its weird because everyone walking around at that exact point are couples. HEHE so random.

THE END

ps, theres no mood that is "constipated" darn. Cuz I really need to poop. Bye
